Behind the Lens

I currently live and work in the Isle of Man with my wife and child. We are owned by a large number of dogs, horses and ponies, rare breed sheep and a lot of chickens.  I love the beautiful countryside, beaches and sunsets the Island has to offer, and they provide the most amazing backdrops and locations for my photography.  The Isle of Man is truly a photographers paradise.

It was living here amidst all this beauty that first inspired me to take up photography, and in 2015 I started snapping the dogs on my phone camera and have progressed a little to a grown up camera now.

So far I am pretty much self taught, and am enjoying my photography journey, constantly striving to improve and get the best shots I can.  It is obviously starting to pay off, as I have now won several Gold Awards, including an extremely prestigious Judges Choice Award as well as several more Highly Commended Awards with the Societies of Photographers.  Most recently in January 2021 I was named their Documentary Photographer of the Year which was both unexpected and very humbling.  In addition several of my images have winning, or have done very well in peer judged competitions and I am immensely proud of these achievements.

Whilst enjoying outdoor photoshoots with children, my passion is undoubtedly animal, and specifically dog photography. There is nothing more challenging than capturing the essence of your dog, and the reason they are known as Man's Best Friend, when they are having fun in the great outdoors.

I can do outdoor portrait shots if that is your preference, but have found most clients seem to prefer a mix of portrait and action shots, but please give me a call and I'll be happy to discuss your ideas with you and come up with exactly what you are looking for.
